Marc Anthony owes $3.4 million in back taxes
Marc Anthony owes millions of dollars in back taxes to New York State, just months after Uncle Sam went after him for $1.6 million.
Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez probably didn't economize this Christmas, but the government wants to know why that cash wasn't used to pay taxes. New York State tax authorities have filed a demand for $1.8 million in back taxes just months after a federal tax lien was placed on the couple's Long Island home to the tune of $1.6 million.
This isn't the first time Marc Anthony has been in trouble with the tax man: In 2007, he was ordered to pay $2.5 million after avoiding the IRS for four years. Anthony's financial team wound up pleading guilty to multiple tax felonies while Anthony paid the fine.
The current tax woe was actually issued in March of 2010 but is just coming to light. Requests for comment by RadarOnline, who first reported the story, to Anthony's reps were not returned.
Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez married in 2004 and have two children, twins Max and Emme. Perhaps Jennifer Lopez can slip Marc some of her American Idol cash and the twins can busk to help him pay his bill?
