Nicole Richie and Joel Madden said "I do" in a magical winter wonderland wedding that was four years in the making.

When Nicole Richie and Joel Madden began dating in 2006, there was something in their relationship and chemistry that predicted they would end up man and wife. Richie and Madden exchanged vows December 11 at the Beverly Hills estate of her famous father, Lionel Richie.

The winter-themed celebration was witnessed by an estimated 150 guests dressed in their fanciest duds, including Khloe Kardashian and Samantha Ronson. "Nicole is obsessed with the season," a friend told US Weekly of the winter-inspired wedding.

While Nicole Richie and Joel Madden's obvious friends and family were in attendance, there was one giant guest that had many onlookers interested. Reports say an elephant was seen being led into a white tent for the shindig. We're still waiting on details of his official role.

Richie kept her wedding party in the family so to speak, choosing her good friend Masha Gordon to stand with her as maid of honor, while the newlyweds' daughter Harlow, 2, paved the aisle with love as the flower girl.

"The fete is less about Joel and Nicole getting married and more about having a party," a source said. "The spirit is that it's a celebration and it's very low-key."

Of course, Lionel Richie was beyond happy to walk his daughter down the aisle to begin the next chapter in her life.

"My happiness for Nicole and Joel knows no boundaries," he shared. "They have given me two beautiful grandchildren, Harlow and Sparrow, and have proven to be great parents. I am not sure who is luckier, Nicole and Joel to have each other, or me, to have both of them in my life."

Congrats go out to Nicole Richie and Joel Madden.
