Private Practice preview: Short Cuts
On the Private Practice airing September 30, Addison balks at coming out about her new romance, Violet and Cooper set new boundaries and the doctors take on medical marijuana and sex change operations in an episode called Short Cuts.
Addison (Kate Walsh) and Sam (Taye Diggs) are still going hot and heavy, but Addie is afraid to go public with their new romance. Sam worries she's turned on by all the sneaking around and pushes her to be honest with her best friend Naomi (Audra McDonald), who is, of course, his ex.
Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) also pushes Addie to come clean, but Addison has her own advice for her ex-sister-in-law! Addison pushes know-it-all wild child Amelia to go visit big brother, Derek, in Seattle, setting up a Private Practice crossover for the October 7 episode of Grey's Anatomy.
Not only was Grey's Derek just shot and almost killed, but it seems Amelia needs to get over some serious family drama. Turns out the sibs saw their father murdered and handled the trauma very differently, which caused a rift. We may have to wait until the crossover for some or all of that story, but thanks to Addie, it's in the works!
Pete (Tim Daly) and Cooper (Paul Adelstein) duke it out over the use of medical marijuana after they learn the mom (Justine Bateman) of an autistic child has started sharing her marijuana prescription with her youngster, instead of giving him the medicine the docs prescribed for him.
One of Charlotte's (KaDee Strickland) patients wants a sex change, but after a psych consult, Sheldon (Brian Benben) doesn't clear the patient for the operation. The denied approval backfires in a big way.
Meanwhile, best pals Violet (Amy Brenneman) and Cooper are forced to set some boundaries in their relationship in order to appease Pete and Charlotte.
Private Practice airs tonight at 10:01 p.m. on ABC, after a new episode of Grey's Anatomy.
