After 17 years of marriage (and a kidney swap!), George Lopez and his wife Ann have split. While there's no sign of legal proceedings yet, the breakup is confirmed by a rep for the pair.

"George and Ann Lopez have made the decision to end their 17 year marriage," a rep said. "The decision is amicable and by mutual agreement. They remain dedicated parents, and committed partners in business and their philanthropic organization, The Lopez Foundation."

This press release came after TMZ got wind of the George Lopez breakup, reporting that the pair has "been working out details of the split 'for a long time.'"

Word is that, as of yet, there's no sign of a petition for divorce or legal separation and the Lopezes hope to keep things copacetic for the sake of their daughter, 15-year-old Mayan Lopez.

The pair has weathered some difficult times together since they tied the knot in 1993. Most infamously, back in 2005, Ann Lopez donated her kidney to save her soon-to-be-ex-hubby's life.

"I can't pay her back, but what I can do is make her as happy as she thought I would when we first got married," George Lopez told People after the surgery.

Lopez, who was named one of the 25 Most Influential Hispanics in America by Time in 2005, has found success in late-night with his TBS talk show Lopez Tonight. Last year's freshman season averaged over 1.2 million viewers.

Lopez Tonight currently airs at 11 pm, but come November, it will be bumped to the midnight hour to make room for Conan O'Brien's new talk show.

"I can't think of anything better than doing my show with Conan as my lead-in," said Lopez. "It's the beginning of a new era in late-night comedy."

With the Lopezes starting a new era in their personal lives, SheKnows wishes them the best of luck. Breaking up may be hard to do, but it's even harder with the whole world watching!
