Katy Perry rocks Saturday Night Live

Katy Perry's Saturday Night Live appearance poked fun at the recent Sesame Street controversy. Is she wise to poke fun at the situation?

Love her or hate her, you can't deny that Katy Perry has a pretty wicked sense of humor.

The California Girls singer appeared on the season opener of Saturday Night Live as the musical guest. In addition to her musical duties, Perry spoofed her recent Sesame Street controversy by acting in a SNL skit.

Perry wore a cleavage-baring top with Elmo's face on it, an obvious reference to her now-banned Sesame Street appearance. She filmed a kid-friendly version of her song Hot and Cold alongside Elmo on the children's show, but she was banned after parents complained about her low-cut costume.

On Saturday Night Live, Perry plays Maureen DiChico, a teenage library volunteer visiting the talk show Bronx Beat, alongside SNL veterans Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph. Maureen is instructed to wear looser-fitting clothing when reading to children, but doesn't understand why.

"Boobs feed babies, alright?" She quipped.

The rest of the skit showed Perry bouncing around in her top.

Don't feel too bad for the singer, she's getting her chance to appear alongside some cartoon characters when she guest stars on an upcoming episode of The Simpsons.
