After a summer of American Idol speculation, the official announcement has been made and surprises are limited. Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson are the season ten American Idol judges, but the much-hyped live announcement was a complete fail given what we already knew.
For the last two seasons, American Idol bumped things up by going to four judges. With Simon Cowell, Ellen DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi out for season ???t?e????n, however, there’s been a flurry of big name contenders jockeying for the empty Idol judges’ seats.
?Top newsmakers have been Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, Bret?? Michaels, Chris Isaak, Harry Connick Jr., Justin Timberlake, Mariah Carey and Elton John. Most recently, Lopez and Tyler had been “confirmed” by sources as the final two to join Randy Jackson for season ten and word was their new contracts were worth millions.
Throughout all of the speculation, American Idol has remained mum, until this morning!
Ryan Seacrest hosted a press conference this morning that was supposed to stream live online and on Fox. Idol fans were virtually lined up for the big announcement on who would join Randy Jackson on the panel, but things didn’t quite go as planned.
The big announcement was supposed to drop at exactly 10 a.m. PT. Unfortunately, some fans saw nothing, while others saw something, but heard nothing. Fox didn’t even manage to air the conference!
Fans were ?i?n? ?a? tizzy over the soundless video and comments posted by other fans, which revealed the big news.
It’s official, triple threat Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler are the new American Idol judges!
“We’re looking for the best American Idol ever. I’m so excited!” J-Lo said. “You can do anything you want in this life, but you have to concentrate on the moment, do the best you can and just live.”
American Idol hopes J-Lo and Tyler will shake up season ten. What do you think of those picks? Leave a comment and let SheKnows know!
