Cake Boss star arrested
Cake Boss cast member Remigio "Remy" Gonzalez has been accused of sexually assaulting a minor on more than one occasion between September 2009 and March 2010.
Unidentified witnesses told detectives the 32-year-old TLC star of Cake Boss initially denied the accusations when they confronted him, but eventually admitted his guilt upon learning the victim was being examined for signs of sexual abuse.
As the police documents reportedly state, Gonzalez began to cry as he confessed to sexually assaulting the minor, admitting that penetration was involved. The alleged crimes occurred in East Hanover and Florham Park in New Jersey.
Remigio Gonzalez was arrested on August 18 and charged with two counts each of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, aggravated criminal sexual contact and criminal sexual contact.
Unable to pay the $300,000 bail, Gonzalez is currently being held at the Morris County jail.
The accused's wife, Lisa Valastro, declined to comment when contacted by E!, but his brother-in-law and Cake Boss Buddy Valastro issued the following statement:
"At the request of Morris County prosecutor Robert Bianchi we are refraining from commenting on this matter at this time, as this is an ongoing criminal prosecution. The family has and remains fully cooperative and supportive of the Prosecutors Office's investigation and prosecution of this case."
Cake Boss centers on Buddy Valastro and his family who work at Carlo's Bake Shop in Hoboken, New Jersey. The TLC reality series is currently filming its fourth season.
TLC released the following statement, "We support Buddy and the Valastro family during this very difficult and challenging time. The network respects the family's wish for as much privacy as possible, and as this doesn't involve us, we will not be commenting any further."
