LeAnn Rimes on America's Got Talent: Bikinis and bad singing
LeAnn Rimes' performance on America’s Got Talent caused a stir. Rimes' barely-there outfit has us asking: Is it too much?
The last thing LeAnn Rimes needs right now is more press about how she's a sleazy man-stealer. Sadly, that's all she inspired by donning a retro bikini and bouncing around like a beach ball on America's Got Talentthis week in a case of too little being way too much.
Hinting at desperation with a side of Katy Perry, LeAnn backflipped onto the stage and started belting out her new single, a cover of John Anderson's 1983 hit Swingin' from her new album, Lady and Gentlemen, in a Beach Blanket Bingo-themed number where all we could think was, "Somewhere right now, Annette Funicello is laughing her ass off."
LeAnn Rimes cart-wheeled and hammed it up for the cameras, never seeming to miss a beat, though a few notes came off a little flat, as her backup dancers did The Frug and The Swim before the singer awkwardly stepped onto a beached surfboard for the finale.
Sure, it was perky. Sure, it was spunky. But what the hell did it have to do with a song about swinging on a front porch while your dad makes fried chicken? Nothing!
The whole set-up seemed like one long excuse for LeAnn Rimes to twirl around in a bikini and show the world how hot her body is.
Sweet pea, we don't care how rockin' your six-pack abs are. We just want you to get back to being the country singer who taught us you can't fight the moonlight. Before your music hit the skids, you tried acting, broke up Eddie Cibrian's marriage and then told the world you had no remorse.
We don't need Lurid LeAnn, we want Lovely Ladylike LeAnn.
