Katy Perry Esquire expose

Jul 6, 2010 at 1:31 p.m. ET

Katy Perry sat down with Esquire to pose for a few racy photos (would you expect anything less?) and dish on her relationship with bad boy Russell Brand, as well as her infectious summer hit California Gurls.

Gone is the blue hair Katy Perry has been sporting lately, as it's been replaced with her usual dark tresses for the article's photos. She can also be seen topless (with her hands strategically placed of course) in a few shots.

Katy Perry tops off her photo shoot look with a lot of thigh high footwear and stockings. All the photos appear with the Esquirearticle that includes the following gems:

On meeting Russell Brand, Katy Perry said: "I was 25, 30 feet away from him. And I threw the bottle straight at him: hit him smack dab on the head. Can you imagine the horrible feeling he had, when he was used to getting everything he wanted? I was like: You've met your match, mother (expletive). A week later we went on vacation in Thailand."

More on Russell Brand: "He used to basically be a professional prostitute -- now he's not. So he's an extremist which can be both good and bad. I always needed someone stronger than me. And I am, like, a (expletive) strong elephant of a woman. I say that hopefully in the humblest way I can."

On her single California Gurls: "I was thinking to myself how perfect it would be to have a California anthem. I can't let the Beach Boys down. I can't let Tupac down. I had the idea to put Snoop on -- I thought he would be the cherry on top, and it would make me look cooler."

Russell Brand and Katy Perry

On Katy Perry and Russell Brand's public persona: "We are both larger than life. I think we are kind of cartoony. But I don't think that means we're not to be taken seriously."
