David Boreanaz: Will celebrity cheating ever stop?

Bones star David Boreanaz has added himself to the ever growing list of celebrity men who admit they’ve cheated on their wives, as SheKnows Entertainment first reported. Although we should not be surprised, it does make us wonder: When will the celebrity cheating stop, if ever?

Once upon a time, dating a celebrity seemed glamorous and exciting.

Now, thanks to a slew of famous men who have stepped forward to announce their infidelities, when it comes to guys guaranteed to be bad for you, celebrities fall somewhere between drug-addled musicians who play in garage bands and prison inmates.

If you meet a star, no matter how thrilling it may seem, don't date him, girl! You'll likely end up represented by famed lawyer Gloria Allred and weeping on TMZ.

The sad truth is, it's unlikely that Boreanaz only cheated once. It's just that there's only one mistress who's come forward -- so far. If the Tiger Woods and Jesse James' of the world have taught us anything, it's that where there's smoke, there's a bonfire of slutty mistresses.

When we heard the announcement that the 40-year-old former Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel star had been stepping out on his 34-year-old Playmate wife, Jaime Bergman, the mother of his two kids, we weren't surprised in the least.

It was merely a few months ago, driving down Sunset Boulevard on a warm, sunny afternoon, windows down, sunroof open, Boreanaz pulled up next to us and made all kinds of googly eyes, smiling and speeding to catch us at every new light. We ignored him and we went on our merry way, but a guy who is trying to pick up random strangers at stoplights probably didn't stop at one dalliance.

It is a sad testament to celebrity culture where bad behavior is largely ignored and instantly forgiven. These men have a smorgasbord of hussies throwing themselves at them all day, every day. Why should they say no? The worst that happens if caught is they lose a few sponsors, make a weepy apology to a glossy magazine and go on with their lives. If it comes to it, sure divorce is painful, but these men have no problem acting single when they're married, they'll do just fine once the final papers are signed.

Maybe marriage vows in Hollywood need to be rewritten to include an "I promise to keep it in my pants when you're not around" clause.
