America’s Got Talent: a weeper

Most people sit down to watch America’s Got Talent with a bowl of popcorn in their lap. I, however, have a box of tissues to combat the frequent tears. I do not know why this stuff makes me cry, but when chicken farmer Kevin Skinner warbled his way through If Tomorrow Never Comes I went through three tissues! I also needed one for sweet 14-year old singer Thia Megia. I was crying for a whole different reason when that singing judge took the stage, (yikes) and let’s not even discuss Witches in Bikinis. Overall, there are some pretty amazing acts this year and quite a few people that are getting by on personality alone — yes, I mean you, moon-walking mama.

And remember yesterday, when I said that Joanna Krupa should be happy that she was no longer on The Superstars. Well, I spoke to soon. She’s back. One of the other contestants was injured and so the rules state that the last eliminated couple will be brought back to fill the empty spot and that was Joanna and T.O. What a lucky break for ABC, as Joanna single-handedly put this show on the ratings map with her ranting and raving the first week. Last night, she and her partner came in second, so they could be around for a long time to come.

There’s more singing, dancing and juggling tonight along with a two-hour Clean House special that will make you feel better about having dirty dishes in the sink. Here are…

Tonight’s top TV picks:

Clean House: The Messiest Home in the Country

The Clean House team is ready to pull the trash bag wrapping off another winner (?) in the Messiest Home in the Country contest. This time around it’s the home of a detective who can nab a criminal but can’t find a place to sit that isn’t covered with clutter!

News and notable

We have the Travel Channel, The History Channel and now, later this year, there will be a Wedding Channel from the parent company of WEtv.

On the other side of that coin, MTV has renewed 16 and Pregnant.

SOAPnet has two new shows. Holidate has two women swapping places to date men in the other person’s city in a show inspired by the Cameron Diaz film The Holiday. Bank of Mom and Dad follows grown adults who move back home and turn over their finances to their parents. (Not sure why, but that’s the show.) Being Erica will also return for another season.

Syfy (formerly SCI-FI Channel) is in development on a remake of the old series Alien Nation.
