Lance Armstrong is a dad! The 37-year-old Tour de France seven-time champion and cancer survivor has beaten the odds again.
Armstrong is one of our generation’s mythical men. The athlete and inspirational prowess welcomed a son, Max Armstrong and introduced him to the world via a tweet, “Wassup, world?”
Lance has three other children with his ex-wife Kristin and you may recall he was in headlines a while ago for a romance with Sheryl Crow. Armstrong and his girlfriend Anna Hansen, seem to be thrilled with their latest addition. The seven pound, five ounce twenty-inch-long baby is officially in the world and part of the Armstrong legacy.
Could you imagine having Lance Armstrong’s genes and drive? Born Lance Edward Gunderson is seriously one of our heroes. How could he not be? Let’s see, he won the Tour de France seven consecutive years from 1999 to 2005. He survived testicular cancer which encompassed a tumor that had spread into his brain and lungs in 1996.
The uber-athlete who proved your mental strength and agility are just as important as your physical prowess, has won numerous awards like the 1999 World Wide of Sports Athlete of the Year, the Prince of Asturias Award in Sports in ’00, Sportsman of the Year in ’02 and countless other accolades like the ESPN’s ESPY Award for Best Male Athlete in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006.
And even though Father’s Day doesn’t arrive for another few weeks, we can safely assume that Lance Armstrong is enjoying the well deserved celebration a little early thanks to the arrival of little Max.
