American Idol heads to the finals
American Idol and Dancing with the Stars both felt like horse races last night. It's Adam Lambert in the lead but Kris Allen is coming up from behind as Danny Gokey strives for the front. Then on DWTS, Shawn Johnson is jockeying for second place as Melissa Rycroft hugs the rail while Gilles is way out front.
American Idol and Dancing with the Stars -- what will I do when these shows are over?
American Idol proved last night that this was still anybody's game. While several of the judges were quick to label Adam as a lock for the finale, Simon reminded the viewers that there's no such thing. If overconfident viewers don't vote, Lambert could end up out the door after tonight's results show. What an upset that would be, huh?Over on Dancing with the Stars, there was no such upset as Ty and Chelsie were sent home - finally. My only wish is that we could have had Lil Kim instead of Shawn in the final three.
Otherwise, the viewers got it right. Gilles is, once again, looking like the favorite but Melissa could wow everyone if she comes back with the sparkle she had on Dancing with the Stars week one.
Congratulate me. For the first time ever, I figured out the Fringe twist before the reveal. I've always suspected that Peter was somehow not really Walter's son and I was right. He's the son of some alternate reality Walter, while the Peter from this reality died as a child. Super way to connect the dots. Fringe did a great job of wrapping up loose ends in the finale, but not so many ends that they don't have a show for next year.
You can be sure that Olivia and the team will have their hands full with more creepy science projects next season.
Tonight's must-watch TV:
ABC would like you to fill your evening with Lost. The night starts with a clip show that will get you brought up to speed. Then it's the two-hour season finale of the perplexing series. Jack's decision to put a plan in action in order to set things right on the island is met with some strong resistance by those close to him, and Locke assigns Ben a difficult task. Questions will be answered but don't expect to be totally clued in by the end because Lost will be back for another season next year. The Lost clip show starts at 8:00 and the finale begins at 9:00. Don't miss our interview with Michael Emerson (Ben) here.
Lie To Me
Even if you haven't been following this clever crime show on Fox, tune in tonight for the season finale of Lie to Me. Mekhi Phifer guests as an FBI agent who calls in The Lightman Group to help identify the terrorists who are setting off bombs outside of Washington, DC. Jennifer Beals also appears as Lightman's ex-wife when the case becomes a little more personal. It will be an explosive, season finale.Watch Lie to Me at 8:00 on Fox.
It's probably the tightest American Idol finale race ever in the history of Idol. Adam, Danny, Kris -- it's hard to say who will go. As much as I adore Kris, I don't think he has the star power of the other two. I can see him in a small club switching it up between the piano and the guitar -- yeah, I'd pay to see that. Tonight we also get the extended home town visit footage which is always good for a tear or two, so bring a tissue box to the couch when you watch.American Idol begins at 9:00 Fox.
