Michelle Obama talks life in the White House
Who doesn't love the First Family? Politically there may be disagreements, but that is one cute family!
Seriously, it's incredibly refreshing to see children in the White House so any time we hear about them, with all due respect to their private lives, we get kind of excited.
Malia and Sasha Obama may be daughters of President Barack Obama and his lovely wife Michelle, but when it comes to being a kid, well their parents ensure they don't get special treatment. As in no special White House treatment for the girls!
Next week's People Magazine reports they still make their own beds. Clean their own rooms? Check. Clean their own dishes? Check, check, check. In fact, prior to inhabiting the White House, the First Lady specifically spoke to the staff to ensure they do not make the girls beds.
We do recall, however, she informed them it's OK for them to make hers. (smile)
Michelle Obama says, "People want to make your life easy, and when you have small kids – I've explained this to the staff – they don't need their lives to be easy. They're kids."
Chores aside, in the cool files, Malia and Sasha get to enjoy the bliss of living in the magnificent home with a movie theater and all the trappings. The First Lady has tried to encourage them to feel like the entire palace -- check that, house -- is their very own home and feels as such.
Wonder if Sasha and Malia got a special premiere of their favorites film -- The Jonas Brothers in 3D? The film opens everywhere today!
