OJ Simpson sentenced to 15 years
OJ Simpson has been sentenced to at least 15 years in prison for a Las Vegas hotel armed robbery, and cannot be freed on bail pending a possible appeal, ruled a judge.
Simpson made an impassioned plea for mercy before his sentencing, claiming he did not mean to steal from anyone during the hotel room invasion, only to retrieve his own memorabilia.
"I didn't want to steal anything from anyone...I'm sorry, sorry," OJ says.
Judge Jackie Glass rejected his apology. "Earlier in this case, at a bail hearing, I said to Mr. Simpson I didn't know if he was arrogant, ignorant or both," Glass states.
"During the trial and through this proceeding I got the answer, and it was both."
"You went to the room. You took guns. You used force. You took property, and in this state, that amounts to robbery with the use of a deadly weapon," she continues.
Simpson, who did not testify in his trial, was convicted of armed robbery, kidnapping and assault on October 3, 2008.
