TV's new season is filled with old stars in new shows. It began Friday with Mr. La Bamba himself and continues with Luke Perry on Criminal Minds tomorrow.

On October 3, Lou Diamond Phillips returned to Numb3rs as expert tracker Ian Edgerton and Shark's Sophina Brown comes on board as one of Don's new agents. The episode called High Exposure has the gang searching for clues in the death of two hikers who were carrying a very large diamond around on their trek and is simply the beginning for new shows with old stars.

Luke finds his way back to TV on CBS' Criminal Minds

I love when actors play against type and this television season is full of prime examples.

Next, it's Beverly Hills 90210 teen heartthrob Luke Perry playing a cult leader who takes federal agents hostage when a raid goes bad on Criminal Minds. The episode is called Minimal Loss and it airs October 8 on CBS.

Rachael Leigh Cook will make an appearance as an old friend of Melinda's on the October 10th episode of Ghost Whisperer. And on October 14, Gibbs will return to his hometown on NCIS and we'll get to meet his father. Who's playing the part? Ralph Waite, aka Papa John from The Waltons.

Papa Walton is back on TV too!

Finally, don't miss the season premiere of Samantha Who? Cybill Shepherd is on board as a rival of Samantha's mother and there will also be a guest appearance by Dancing with the Stars pro Mark Balls. Watch for it on October 13.
