It took a rumble of Thunder to take down a Dark Knight.

Tropic Thunder slid into the number one movie in America slot this weekend, raking in $26 million and knocking The Dark Knight down to number two after four weeks at the top.

Smile Ben, you're number one

Featuring four of Hollywood's biggest male stars: Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Robert Downey, Jr. and Tom Cruise, Tropic Thunder gained notoriety for its depiction of a mentally challenged man frequently referred to in the movie as a "retard."

"We're thrilled, quite frankly. It played out exactly how we hoped," said DreamWorks spokesman Chip Sullivan.
