Olympics go swimming while Bravo spends a Million

Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing is new and cool tonight, but I have to be honest: I’m having a real love-hate relationship with High School Musical: Get in the Picture. On one hand, I applaud the fact that they’re actually teaching kids on the show, giving them tools to not only become better performers but better people. On the other hand, it’s boring!

Watching the two chorus members unenthusiastically play tug-of-war with an imagined rope is so snooze-worthy. I did enjoy the musical numbers, I always do but I was unhappy to see one of my favorites, Anthony, sent to the chorus. This kid has too much heart for the chorus! I guess I’ll give it another week and see.

Other than that, my night was taken up by the amazing men’s gymnastics finals. Wow, what a show that turned out to be. Happy Chinese team, happy American team and the Japanese taking silver with frowns on their faces. Interesting.

Why are these guys smiling?

Tonight on TV

NBC has the Olympic Summer Games 2008 all night long (and then some!). More swimming and women’s gymnastics continue tonight.

Then it’s more of the usual suspects.

ABC with Wipeout, Wanna Bet, and Primetime: Medical Mysteries.

CBS has NCIS, Big Brother 10, and Without A Trace.

The CW goes with Beauty and the Geek, and Reaper.

FOX rolls with House, and more of the Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles marathon.

Over on cable

ABC Family has The Secret Life of an American Teenager.

If you’re in to real estate, Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing is new and cool at 10:00 and HGTV’s The Stagers is worth a watch at 9:30.

MTV is going from G’s to Gents, and Eureka is new on SCI FI

Finally, TLC has new episodes of Say Yes to the Dress and Must Love Kids.

News and notable

Lots of new projects in the works:

ABC is developing a series based on the movie Witches of Eastwick. (Sounds good to me!)

CBS is running with a remake of Hawaii Five-O.

NBC is working on Mogulettes, a sitcom about young, female tycoons.

Weeds star Mary Louise Parker is headed to the Broadway stage.

Buffy’s Seth Green may add a little color to the cast of Heroes.
