Olympics continue to rule TV

I’ve been glued to the Olympics these past few days. From the incredible opening ceremonies, the close calls in gymnastics, to the exciting swimming finals, I’m in for the long haul.

NBC’s been doing a great job of presenting the Olympic events without too much jumping around and they’re great at giving you the facts you need to understand what’s going on. I never thought of swimming as an exciting spectator sport, but watching the US team come from behind to beat the French (who were busy bad mouthing us) was a joy to behold.

Of course, there are a few other shows on TV but what you’ll find is mostly reruns.

American Mall is brand new

Tonight on TV

ABC is new with High School Musical: Get In the Picture, then follows with reruns of Samantha Who? and ends with The Mole finale.

CBS is all reruns with The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Two and a Half Men, The New Adventures of Old Christine, and CSI: Miami.

The CW goes with reruns of Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill.

FOX has some new (old) reruns of Prison Break, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

NBC has the Olympic Summer Games 2008 all night long (and then some!) More swimming and men’s gymnastics tonight.

Over on cable

A biggie tonight is MTV’s American Mall which is being touted as High School Musical for an older crowd.

Kevin Sorbo guests on The Middleman on ABC Family at 10:00.

Bravo has a Date My Ex marathon that concludes with a new episode.

The Closer and Saving Grace are both new tonight on TNT with Best in Show star Jennifer Coolidge guesting on The Closer. See our interview later today.

News and notable

Sara Gilbert will reprise her role as Leslie Winkle and become a regular on The Big Bang Theory.

Martha Stewart is behind a show on Fine Living that will parody her own show Mystery Science Theater style.

Tori Spelling has reportedly pulled out of The CW’s 90210 saying she was offered less money than Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty. (What’s up with that?)

What do Heidi Klum, David Beckham, Jessica Alba, Jack Black, Sandra Oh, and Neil Patrick Harris have in common? They’re all going to guest on Sesame Street this season.
