Starsky visits The Closer, High School Musical goes reality

Teens audition to join the High School Musical family and The OC’s Slade wants you to date his ex.

Just what I needed, another show that makes me cry! This time it’s “High School Musical: Get in the Picture.” Think of it as “American Idol” for teens. Talent scouts are scouring the country looking for 12 kids who will compete in “High School Musical” boot camp with the hopes of becoming the next big Disney star. It’s heartwarming, it’s fun to watch and it’s heartbreaking to see these kids pinning all of their hopes and dreams on one audition only to be told no. The second episode is on tonight, so don’t miss it.

Last night was also the near-finale episodes of “Design Star” and “The Next Food Network Star.” The chefs had to whip up a Las Vegas buffet while the designers had to redo a room for a family member (yikes!) The Food Network contestants fared a bit better overall with all three of them making it to the finale, but on “Design Star” Trish was sent packing for no other reason than the fact that someone had to pull the short straw.

Now let’s look at. . .

Tonight on TV

ABC is looking good tonight with three new shows, “High School Musical: Get in the Picture,” “Wanna Bet,” and “The Mole.” “Wanna Bet” is a game show where celebs bet on a contestants ability to pull off a zany stunt.  Kind of like “The Gong Show” meets “World Poker Championship.”

Finding HSM's next class

NBC is also all new with “American Gladiators,” “Nashville Star” and “Dateline NBC.”

CBS sticks with their comedy block followed by “CSI: Miami.”

The CW has “Gossip Girl” and “One Tree Hill.”

FOX goes with “Bones” and “House,” for their one-two punch.

Over on cable

Jo and Slade from “The Real Housewives of Orange County” step out in their new show for Bravo called “Date My Ex.”

On ABC Family, “The Middleman” and Wendy battle a boy band with secret alien powers. HGTV has new episodes of “Designed to Sell” and “Curb Appeal.” MTV gets close to wrapping up “The Search for the Next Elle Woods,” and on TLC, “Jon and Kate Plus 8” look at their favorite moments.

Finally, “Starsky & Hutch” star Paul Michael Glaser gets on an all new “The Closer” which is followed by a new episode of “Saving Grace” all on TNT starting at 9:00.
