Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood has entered rehab, according to his spokesperson.
Wood, 61, was reportedly drinking upwards of two bottles of vodka a day and has deserted his wife of 23 years to take up with an 18-year-old Russian “cocktail waitress” he met at an escort bar.
“Following Ronnie’s continued battle with alcohol he has entered a period of rehab,” confirmed Woods’ spokesperson. “Close family and friends say he is seeking help and look forward to his recovery.”
Although wife Jo Wood wants to save the marriage (as does Ronnie), she is refusing to visit him in rehab until he sobers up and ceases communication with his teen infatuation, Ekaterina Ivanova. The Mirror claims Wood tried to smuggle a cell phone in to the rehab facility so he could text his fling.
Jo left England for Barcelona today to sort out her feelings on the events of the past few months.
“I think she was hoping it might teach Ronnie a lesson if she walked out on him when he needs her most,” said a friend.
“Everyone just wants him to get better and sort himself out. Jo has put up with so much over the years, she feels like she can’t take any more.”
