So You Think You Can Dance: top 16 recap
Samba to Rumba to Hip Hop goes mainstream, here's a look at week three on "So You Think You Can Dance."
The say the third time is the charm but it wasn't so for several couples on last night's edition of "So You Think You Can Dance."
At the bottom of the list for me again was Chelsea Traille and Thayne Jasperson and their Quickstep. The Quickstep is one of my favorites when it's done right and this one wasn't done right at all. And I'm really tired of that pasted on smile of Thayne's. More often than not it looks like he's gritting his teeth. Time for at least him to go home. Side not: Chelsea looked simply gorgeous!
Also staying in my bottom three is Comfort Fedoke and Chris Jarosz. They had an animalistic jazz routine but the animals turned out to be two old house cats and not the lions we had hoped for. Comfort is better than Chris, no doubt but neither one really sold me on this routine.
Kourtni Lind and Matt Dorame ended up with a quirky Contemporary piece by a first-time guest choreographer, Sonya Tayeh. Yikes, just what we needed, another quirky Contemporary choreographer. There was a lightness to the routine that you don't usually see in this style but I think it left the audience scratching their heads.
Dropping down a notch was Kherington Payne and Twitch Boss with their jailbird Hip Hop routine. It was clever and we know Twitch can dance but I wasn't wowed as I usually am by this pair.
Courtney Galiano and Gev Manoukian continued to grow on me with their sexy Rumba. Who knew they had it in them? Slow and sultry and it really showed off the chemistry between them. Good job.
Really jumping up a notch was Chelsie Hightower and Mark Kanemura with a stunning Hip Hop routine that was quite mainstream. It was a love story and a power struggle and I really felt the characters from both of them. My favorite dance of the night.
Jessica King and Will Wingfield stayed on my happy list with a classic disco routine that was an attempt to highlight Jessica. They had some mess ups but they plowed on through with a highly difficult routine. But Will, dear Will, he just captivates me every time he steps out on the stage. He's still the favorite to win in my book.
Finally, we had Katee Shean and Joshua Allen with a Samba that blew us all away. Who knew he could put on the sexy like that? And has Joshua lost weight? He looks so trim and lighter all around. Fabulous dress on Katee and what about those pants on Joshua...hot stuff.
Now it's time for the results show. My prediction is Chelsea, Thayne, Kourtni and Matt, and Comfort and Chris in the bottom three. Watch tonight at 9:00 on Fox and see how it all comes out.
