American Girl sweepstakes on TCM

Do you have an “American Girl” in your home who just can’t get enough of the popular series?

Abigail's an American GirlTurner Classic Movies and Picturehouse are giving girls a chance to win a private screening of the new Picturehouse movie “Kit Kittredge: An American Girl,” starring Abigail Breslin, Joan Cusack and Chris O’Donnell. 

The sweepstakes is being held to commemorate the launch of TCM Essentials Jr., a showcase of family-oriented movies hosted by Breslin and O’Donnell starting Sunday, June 1.

TCM Essentials Jr. will give you a chance to introduce your kids to the classics and I say it’s time we started cultivating a new crop of “old” movie fans. The showcase includes “National Velvet” (1944 – airing June 1), “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father” (1963 – June 15), “Harvey” (1950 – June 29) and “Meet Me in St. Louis” (1944 – July 13). 

To enter the sweepstakes, go to for a chance to win a Grand Prize package that includes a private screening of “Kit Kittredge: An American Girl” for the winner and 50 guests, including unlimited popcorn and soda. The Grand Prize winner will also receive Kit’s Complete Collection, including a Kit Kittredge American Girl doll and assorted accessories, clothing and furniture. In addition, 25 First Prize winners will receive a TCM Essentials Jr. DVD pack featuring five movies from the showcase.

“Kit Kittredge: An American Girl” exclusive engagements start June 20 and the film is in theaters everywhere July 2. In the movie, Breslin plays a young girl growing up in her parents’ boarding house during the Great Depression. The film, which is based on the popular American Girl doll line, also stars Julia Ormond, Joan Cusack, Stanley Tucci and Jane Krakowski.
