The CW gets first place tonight with the models training to be gladiators on Tyra Banks’ “America’s Next Top Model,” followed by the debut of the new reality romance series “Farmer Wants a Wife.”
Fox starts off light with their comedies, “”Til Death” and “Back to You,” then someone goes home on “American Idol.”

ABC has “Wife Swap” and “Supernanny,” with a new “Boston Legal” closing the night.

CBS is all new with “Price is Right,” “Criminal Minds,” and “CSI:NY.”

NBC has two hours of “Deal or No Deal” with a new “Law and Order” at 10:00.

Over on cable

On Bravo, the “Top Chef” contestants have to cook a healthy meal, the “Ghost Hunters” check out a haunted hospital on SCI FI and it’s “The Big 4-0” at 10:00 on TVLand.

For the whole family, there’s ABC Family’s “Princess” and Disney’s “Double Teamed.”

NEWS AND NOTABLE

— ION has purchased the syndication rights to “Ghost Whisperer.”  They will begin airing old episodes of the series in primetime in 2009.

— A&E has picked up a new cooking series with Rocco DiSpirito, tentatively titled “Rocco to the Rescue.”

— G4 has a new game show that you won’t want to watch over dinner.  “Hurl” challenges contestants to keep their food in their stomach after a speed eating contest and physical activities designed to make them sick.  Seriously, who thought of this?

— Jessica Walter has signed on to play an aging movie star in The CW’s “90210” spin-off.

— TLC has picked up “Masters of Dance” which challenges contestants to change dance style mid-routine by mixing up the music.
