Prince set to headline Coachella Saturday night
Coachella is bringing the funk.
Prince has been announced as the desert festival's headlining act for its April 26 performance day. In a group list that includes Portishead, Cold War Kids and Slightly Stoopid, Prince's name may seem a bit out of place.
But as someone who has seen his purple-ness take over a crowd, these alternative music fans have no idea the force of Hurricane Prince that will knock their socks off.
Having a knack for beginning his shows with "Housequake," there is unlikely to be a toe in the sand that is not tapping.
Friday and Sunday night headliners Roger Waters, the former Pink Floyd front man, and Jack Johnson now have their work cut out for them in the form of a challenge from Saturday night's performer with classic credentials.
The Empire Polo field in the scorching California desert will be the home to bands as wide ranging as Jack Johnson, the Raconteurs, Death Cab for Cutie and Tegan and Sara to just name a few.

Time to party like it's 2008, to paraphrase the purple one!
