Cate Blanchett gives birth to a third son and still plans to host Australia 2020 — merely days after delivery!
Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett gave birth to her third son on Sunday.
The 38-year-old Elizabeth actress delivered Ignatius Martin Upton in Sydney, Australia. The news arrives according to Tim McKeough, the media relations manager at the Down Under Sydney Theater Company where Blanchett and playwright husband Andrew Upton are co-artistic directors.
“All are well and very happy,” McKeough said.
Ignatius weighed in at 7.94 pounds and joins brothers Dashiell, 6, and Roman, 3.
Blanchett will still chair the Australia 2020 ideas summit in Canberra this weekend, just six days after giving birth.
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd congratulated Blanchett on her new arrival and said “I want to extend my best wishes to Ms. Blanchett and her family and thank her for her contribution to the Australia 2020 Summit thus far,” Rudd said.
“Ms Blanchett has indicated that she will continue to participate in the 2020 summit in her role as a co-chair of the creative Australia panel and has asked that Dr Schultz also be added as an additional co-chair on this panel.”
Blanchett asked for the second chair to help her guide debates in the artistic portion of the conference.
