Mariah Carey overtakes Elvis
Mariah Carey had been counted down and out just a few years ago. Her previous record company dropped her one album into her deal for poor sales.
Fast forward to today and Mariah Carey is on a career moment surpassing all of her others.
After debuting her first single from "E=MC2" on "The Hills" premiere last week, Carey has been everywhere.
Most importantly, she has been on the top of the charts. Again.
With "Touch My Body" hitting the number one spot on the Hot 100, the song becomes her 18th number one track.
Elvis Presley had previously held the record at 17, one that had stood for decades. Mariah took the news in stride when she spoke to the Associated Press about her achievement:
"I really can never put myself in the category of people who have not only revolutionized music but also changed the world," Carey said. "That's a completely different era and time...I'm just feeling really happy and grateful."
A career path that began with "Vision of Love" is not ending with "Touch My Body."
By the early tracks SheKnows has heard off the new Einstein-inspired album, Carey is just getting started.
