Funny man Robin Williams gets serious on "Law and Order: SVU."

Robin Williams enlists SVURobin Williams has been signed to guest on the 200th episode of "Law & Order: SVU."  First off, can we talk about 200 episodes!

Quite the milestone!

And getting Williams is quite the coup, indeed. Though he got his start in television back in the 70's with the series "Mork & Mindy" the actor hasn't done much TV (except for a memorable and crazy episode of "Whose Line is it Anyway?")

According to Variety, Williams will play an engineer whose life has gone off-track following a tragedy.

Events lead him to start questioning authority, and encouraging others to do the same.

All of the "Law & Order" series have had good luck casting actors against type.  Back in 2002, Williams' old co-star Henry Winkler turned in an excellent performance on "SVU," as did the late John Ritter

I expect another engaging if not an Emmy-winning performance from Williams as well.
