Lionel gushes over being Grandpa
After witnessing his "Hello" transformed on "American Idol" and the daily joy of being a grandfather, Lionel Richie has reason to be happy.
Richie visited Ryan Seacrest's radio show yesterday and waxed poetic about how, although he's biased, his grandchild is the "sweetest, most beautiful baby."
From the tone of the interview, the former Commodores lead singer is enjoying his new role. "You know how it is. You get prejudiced about your kid. Well, Nicole's kid is amazing, I have to tell you," Richie said. "And she has turned into a full-fledged mom."
Also a bright spot for the singer is the recent American Idol cover of his "Hello."
The David Cook rendition of his 20 year-old song truly impressed Richie, he professed to Seacrest. "I'm putting that song out there tomorrow myself with David on it," Richie said.
It appears Richie is serious as he continued on Seacrest's show. He said he was ready to get Cook into a studio immediately.
According to Simon Cowell, after Cook's performance, the result would be a hit record.
