The final 11: Voting times two, part two

(Read part one here.)

Next, Nikko Smith sang Sisqo’s “Incomplete.” Paula thought it was the best that Nikko has ever sounded, and Simon actually agreed. See what picking the right song can do for you!

Vonzell Solomon was up next and sang the Emotions’ “Best of My Love.” Vonzell did great and had the whole 1977 thing down. Paula and Randy liked it, and Simon said this would be the first time that America would remember what she had done.

Taking a big risk, Constantine Maroulis sang “I Think I Love You” by The Partridge Family. Paula thought Constantine had the most showmanship, while Randy liked his crazy song choice. Simon, however, thought it was a bad fit and was like “ordering a guard dog and getting a poodle in a leather jacket.”

Nadia Turner sang Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time” with a big Mohawk-style hairdo. The hairdo worked better than the song for her, but I still think Nadia’s one of the strongest finalists. Simon actually said it was “cruise-ship cabaret.”

Mikalah Gordon tried to tackle Taylor Dayne’s “Love Will Lead You Back.” She was real rough — the judges didn’t like it and Simon called it “a complete mess.” I think America might agree with Simon.

Anwar Robinson sang “Ain’t Nobody” by Chaka Khan. Paula liked that he tackled a female singer’s song, but Simon felt he was “inconsistent.” But he finished strong in my opinion.

Last, Jessica Sierra sang Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart.” She sounded great and proved that she didn’t deserve to be in the bottom three last week. Paula called it “brilliant” and even Simon was impressed.

After the re-run on Wednesday, Thursday’s results show had a couple of surprises. The biggest surprise was that Nadia was in the bottom three, which I don’t think she deserved. Less of a surprise was who was voted off: Mikalah. I have agree that she was the weakest performance of the week, and combined with her personality which people either love or hate, she was history. I think it was also a mistake for her to have worn a shirt that said: “My job is to annoy you.”

Anyway, here’s hoping next week’s shows will be error-free, at least as far as the producers are concerned. I still think that Bo, Carrie, Nadia and Constantine are the favorites to win, but you never know what will happen when they throw a crazy genre at them.
