Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians member Jeffrey Carter Albrecht was shot to death early Monday morning in Dallas.

Edie's keyboardist shot deadAlbrecht, according to the shooter, was reportedly attempting to break into the home of his girlfriend's neighbor when the man shot him through the door.

It was late Sunday night, around 4:30 in the morning, when the keyboardist was mistaken for what the homeowner thought was a break-in. It is not known why Albrecht was banging on the neighbor's house and how the exchange escalated. The only thing that is certain is he was found dead at the scene when police arrived.

Joining Brickell's band in 1999, the musician had played with Paul Simon, Brickell's husband, as well as his own Texas band, Sorta and one of my favorites from Texas, guitar phenom, Charlie Sexton.
