Princess Beatrice probably needed a little extra support on Friday, and that’s exactly what mom Sarah, Duchess of York, sent to her eldest daughter. On May 29, Beatrice should have been getting married to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. But since the coronavirus pandemic caused the couple to postpone their nuptials, Sarah sent a special shout-out to Beatrice on her would’ve-been-wedding-day instead.
Even though Beatrice didn’t make it down the aisle on Friday, it didn’t stop her mom from feeling nostalgic about her little girl. In fact, the date undoubtedly made the Duchess even more sentimental. Taking to Instagram, Sarah posted an adorable throwback photo of Beatrice as a child. “Love you my darling Beatrice. You have given me more joy than I could ever wish for. I am so excited to celebrate yours and Edo’s love when we are all out of lockdown,” Sarah wrote in a heartfelt message to her daughter. “The most important thing is health and love and today I send it to you and all the other people that were getting married during this time… so proud of you all.”
At the moment, Beatrice and Edoardo have reportedly kept most of their original wedding plans — they’re simply waiting for a better time to tie the knot.

“There are no plans to switch venues or hold a bigger wedding. They aren’t even thinking about their wedding at this time. There will come a time to rearrange, but that’s not yet,” a spokesperson for the couple told People back in April.
In some ways, the wedding was to be very much like a typical royal wedding. Beatrice, whose father is Prince Andrew, had planned to marry Edoardo at St. James’s Place in London. Their reception was set to be held in the gardens at her grandmother Queen Elizabeth’s Buckingham Palace. However, Beatrice’s nuptials were also rumored to be decidedly much more “low-key” than the royal weddings of, say, Kate Middleton or Meghan Markle.
Fans of the royal family will have to wait to see just how royal-casual Beatrice’s wedding day will ultimately turn out. In addition to delaying due to the pandemic, the bride-to-be has already pushed the wedding date “two times” because of the fallout surrounding her father. No word yet on whether that may come into play with wedding planning again once the global health lockdown is fully lifted.
