Supermodel Gisele Bündchen took to Instagram this week to give her fans a chance to ask her anything — and ask they did. One question caught our attention in particular: when they asked her how it feels to be a stepmom to Tom Brady’s son Jack, from his previous relationship with Bridget Moynahan. Bündchen’s answer was surprising. She’s actually not a fan of the word “stepmom” at all.
“I don’t like the word stepmom,” Bündchen replied to the fan. “I use the word bonus mom because I feel like it’s a blessing in my life. I feel so lucky that I got to have an extra, wonderful little angel in my life.”
What a sweet way to think about it! In addition to bonus son Jack, Bündchen shares kids Benjamin and Vivian with husband Brady. And this wasn’t the only question about their idyllic home life.
“How do you manage family time when you and Tom are so busy?” another fan asked. “Your kids look so happy!”
“I don’t think there’s a secret recipe,” Bündchen replied. “I think we just try our best to be present with the kids when we are with the kids, and be fully there with them, really listening to them. I think it’s not so much the amount of time as the quality of time.”
“I think what’s really important as well is the energy that’s around the children,” she added. “We’re constantly giving them kisses and hugs, and they see how much we love each other and how much we support each other. We never raise our voices, we never have arguments — we talk things over if we have any issues. I think it’s really important that the energy of the house is loving and safe.”
