Jennifer Lopez’s Backstage Moment With Daughter Emme Before the Super Bowl Show Will Steal Your Heart

Talk about a talented (and tightknit) family! Jennifer Lopez and daughter Emme shared a moment backstage before the Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show on Sunday that’ll warm your heart. There, amid the chaos and the noise, the pair managed to steal a few quiet minutes to just be together. It’s also a touching reminder that although Lopez is a lot of things — dancer, singer, producer, entrepreneur — she’s a mom, first and foremost. And before she took the stage in many of those capacities on Sunday, she made sure her little girl felt supported.

Lopez shared the tender behind-the-scenes moment on Monday via a YouTube video, which she also shared on her Instagram account. In the first few seconds, the mother-daughter duo can be seen walking down a hallway hand-in-hand. Shortly after, Emme leans in towards her mom, who plants a gentle kiss on her 11-year-old’s forehead. They then stand in place hugging, while Lopez rubs Emme’ back (total mom move, right?).

“These moments were captured just minutes before we hit the stage last night. All I want my girls, the little girls on stage with me and all over the world to know, is how to use their voices and be proud of everything they are,” Lopez captioned the video on Instagram. “We are proud to recognize that all of us together are what makes this beautiful country truly great.”

Clocking in at roughly two-and-a-half minutes, the video features a lot of what you’d expect from a backstage glimpse: dancers getting hyped up, J.Lo leading her team in a prayer, outfits being adjusted, positions being taken. But it really is the scenes that showcase Lopez and Emme’s bond that stand out. If you were watching the show on Sunday, you know that the show was a huge success — and that people are clearly still talking about Emme taking the stage with her mom.

The tween belted out a rendition of “Let’s Get Loud” with other young singers and dancers, before launching into Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA” with her mom. And let’s be real, the pride J.Lo felt in her daughter was written all over her face when they shared the stage.

Adorably, the entire extended family was touched by Lopez and Emme’s performance. When asked during an interview with Entertainment Tonight about their favorite part of the show, Lopez’s soon-to-be stepdaughters Ella, 11, and Natasha, 15 (fiance Alex Rodriguez’s daughters) singled out their sis.

“My favorite part was when the little girls came out and Emme sang, it was really good,” gushed Ella. Added Natasha, “It was the coolest thing to watch my stepsister sing. I’m so proud of her every time I see her and her voice is just angelic.”
