Tia Mowry’s Message About Loving Your Post-Baby Body Is a Must-Read for All Women

There’s no denying it — carrying a baby changes your body. Sometimes those changes are temporary. Sometimes they’re permanent. You know what? It’s all good either way. That’s the core sentiment behind a post just shared by Tia Mowry about her post-pregnancy body and, we gotta say, we love the Family Reunion star’s self-love and post-baby body positivity.

Mowry took to Instagram on Thursday to share a photo of herself striking a yoga pose in workout gear. Balancing on one leg in her living room, she looks centered, healthy and most importantly, happy. “Checking in. #17months post pregnant,” she writes, continuing, “I did it my way and in my time. Many women feel the need to #snapback right away after they deliver. That was never the goal for me. I was called #fat during my #pregnancy and I was called #fat after my #pregnancy. Why do we do this to each other? Instead of #love one another other? I will never understand that.”

Mowry pointed out that it was for this very reason she got vulnerable during her pregnancy journey, so that other women would hopefully get the message that “it’s okay to go at your own pace, it is okay to love yourself no matter where you are in your journey.”

Checking in. #17months post pregnant. I did it my way and in my time. Many women feel the need to #snapback right away after they deliver. That was never the goal for me. I was called #fat during my #pregnancy and I was called #fat after my #pregnancy. Why do we do this to each other? Instead of #love one another other? I will never understand that. I intentionally documented my journey and became vulnerable to show #women that it’s okay to go at your own pace, it is okay to love yourself no matter where you are in your journey. Do not fold to societal pressures. After hard work with just diet and exercise, today I’m closer to my goal. Do I have loose skin and stretch marks? YES. Guess what?? I LOVE all me and I want you to love all of you too. #women #rock Workout fit- @kellyrowland @fabletics

The mom of two ended her post with a call-to-action that applies to all women, urging, “Do not fold to societal pressures. After hard work with just diet and exercise, today I’m closer to my goal. Do I have loose skin and stretch marks? YES. Guess what?? I LOVE all me and I want you to love all of you too.”

Last summer, the actress and her husband, Cory Hardrict, welcomed their second child — and first daughter — baby Cairo Tiahna Hardrict. Throughout her pregnancy and in the time since, Mowry has been open about how sharing her ups and downs with other moms has helped her to get through the more difficult days of loving herself.

And, hey, maybe that’s the key. In lifting each other up in love, learning to love ourselves could become second nature. It sure seems to be working for Mowry, because she has been serving lewks on her social media feeds at every stage of her postpartum journey. Let’s all take this page from her book, yeah?
