Julia Roberts Wears Almost the Same Iconic Dress From Pretty Woman — 29 Years Later

We don’t like to play favorites, but there’s no denying that certain celeb looks just hold a special place in our hearts. For example: Julia Roberts wore a throwback Pretty Woman outfit this weekend, and suddenly, we only want to see her wear Pretty Woman–inspired fashion for the rest of the year. (Preferably, with Richard Gere lurking closely nearby.) Sorry, not sorry — this Pretty Woman look gives us all the ’90s feels in the best possible way, shocking as it is that it’s been nearly 30 years since Roberts captured our hearts as Vivian Ward.

Roberts debuted the look at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in Los Angeles, where she and other famous figures like Kirsten Dunst, Mandy Moore, and Busy Philipps enjoyed a polo match and champagne. (Have we mentioned that being a celebrity sounds really fun?) The 51-year-old actress was in head-to-toe Michael Kors (the resort 2020 collection, to be specific), pairing a black-and-white polka dot blouse with matching pants and white belt. She finished off the ensemble with understated jewelry and big sunglasses, a must for a day of polo in Southern California.

It’s definitely a modern, updated take on her Pretty Woman look, which consisted of a brown-and-white polka dot dress and white hat with matching trim. While Roberts may be missing the hat in 2019, the polka dot pattern, cinched waist, and stark white shoes have us instantly picturing her 1990 look. Here’s a side-by-side photo of both outfits:

Do you think Roberts was intentionally channeling her Pretty Woman look? Or was this just a happy accident? Bottom line, Roberts looks fabulous — and has us thinking about other ’90s looks we may want to refresh this season.
