Travel Channel’s Ghostober Is the Paranormal Enthusiast’s Halloween Dream-Come-True

It’s officially October and you know what that means, right? You no longer have to hide your penchant for all things paranormal. It’s time to lean into those dark proclivities, because Travel Channel has revealed their Ghostober TV lineup — and, as the name implies, it’s full of specters, spirits and other oft-unseen entities that go bump in the night. So, move over, Netflix and Chills. Make way, 31 Nights of Halloween. This roster of ominous programming is made for viewers who aren’t afraid of the dark (and the apparitions who hide there).

Per a press release from the network, the annual programming event will once again cater to people who are paranormal-obsessed. “Halloween is Travel Channel’s Superbowl,” Matthew Butler, general manager of Travel Channel, insisted. “We’re pulling out all the stops for Ghostober this year — from a live ghost hunt in Salem, Massachusetts, and an iconic investigation of the house that inspired The Conjuring, to reopening the case files of America’s first ghost hunter, Hans Holzer.”

So, horror, paranormal, supernatural… if the mere mention of these words makes your spine tingle with a heady mix of excitement and fear, you’re going to want to clear some space on your DVR. Here’s are a few of the fearsome titles we’re looking forward to most, along with the full Ghostober lineup.

The Holzer Files (Oct. 3)

For the paranormal aficionado who’s also a history buff, there’s no better show than The Holzer Files. This new series follows a paranormal team (investigator Dave Schrader, psychic medium Cindy Kaza and equipment tech Shane Pittman) as they re-open the recently discovered case files of America’s first ghost hunter, Dr. Hans Holzer. Bonus? They’ll get a special assist from Holzer’s daughter, Alexandra Holzer… along with thousands of documents, letters, photographs and chilling audio and visual recordings dating back to the 1950s.

Haunted Salem: LIVE (Oct. 4)

Join an esteemed team of paranormal experts in this live four-hour special as they perform an exhaustive, immersive ghost hunt in some of Salem’s most haunted locations.

Ghost Adventures: Serial Killer Spirits (Oct. 5)

This four-part miniseries follows Zak Bagans, Aaron Goodwin, Billy Tolley and Jay Wasley as they sojourn to locations associated with America’s notorious serial killers. Does evil still linger in these tragedy-tinged places? Find out every Saturday in October as the team heads to infamous sites such as John Wayne Gacy’s prison cell and the Anson Call House thought to have ties to Ted Bundy’s 1970s killing spree.

Destination Fear (Oct. 26)

If you’ve always dreamed of taking a road trip and hitting as many haunted locales as you could find, here’s your chance to do just that — vicariously, through paranormal explorer Dakota Laden, his sister Chelsea and his best friend Tanner. The trio will be RV’ing across the country to stay at the most paranormal places in America.
