This Is Us Just Dropped the Season 4 Trailer & Revealed 10 (Yes, 10!) New Characters

Brace yourself for change, Pearson family followers — This Is Us just dropped its season four trailer and introduced a boatload of new characters. And by a boatload, we mean 10. Yes, 10 new faces will be joining Jack, Rebecca, Miguel, the Big Three and all of your other beloved members of the Pearson clan when the series returns.

Obviously, you need details. First, you should know that the teaser trailer wasn’t dropped totally at random. In the series, today marks the birthday of the Big Three. So, happy birthday, Kevin, Kate and Randall! The trailer, which was released on Saturday morning, starts with Mandy Moore’s young Rebecca and Milo Ventimiglia’s young Jack sitting in the car talking. “It’s so strange, isn’t it? How just like that a complete stranger can become such a big part of your story. It’s actually kind of terrifying, you know? How a single cross with one person you’ve never met can change everything.”

As she speaks, a very This Is Us-style montage plays out. Only, it consists mostly of faces we haven’t seen before. Who are they? Well, we don’t yet know who they are or what their presence will mean in the series, but we do know who plays them: Asante Blackk, Marsha Stephanie Blake, Omar Epps, Bahara Golestani, Jennifer Morrison, Timothy Omundson, M. Night Shyamalan, Julian Silva, Auden Thornton and Nick Wechsler.

Wowza. Moore obviously wasn’t being hyperbolic when she chatted with ET earlier in August. “Our first episode, our universe fundamentally expands in a way that people might not be expecting,” she hinted. And this boon of new faces around the Pearson family certainly qualifies as an unexpected expansion.

Outside of the teaser trailer, the show has been keeping details about season four under wraps, although creator Dan Fogelman did admit that it might be “potentially polarizing” for the series’ die-hard fans. We’re assuming, after seeing the new trailer, that he could be alluding to the fact that the Pearson fam will have to share screen time with all of these newcomers — meaning we’ll naturally see Jack, Rebecca and the gang a little less.

Either way, get excited about what’s to come, because the This Is Us world is about to get even bigger (and maybe even better?).

This Is Us Season 4 premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
