It was “ship’s ahoy”, for the royal family! Prince George wore a captain’s hat to cheer Prince William and Kate Middleton’s sailing competition. According to People, royal siblings spent the day with their parents under the watchful eye of grandfather, Mike Middleton. As the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took part in a charity sailing race, George and Charlotte watched from afar, cheering on their parents. Originally planned for Friday, Aug. 9, The King’s Cup Regatta was moved a day earlier, and fans of the royals were treated to some candid pics of Prince George and Princess Charlotte, complete with life vests as they monitored their parents’ sailing prowess.
The royal siblings were dressed perfectly for the nautical occasion, wearing blue-and-white-striped ensembles. Prince George sported a new captain’s hat and showed off his a toothless smile after celebrating his sixth birthday. The event marks the Cambridge’s first public appearance since their vacation in Mustique in July.
Prince William and Middleton took on the role of captains for their competing vessels. The public was welcomed to sit in the grandstands and watch the charity race — which dates back to 1920.
