Jennifer Lopez may be happily engaged to Alex Rodriguez, but apparently, she’s not above speaking shadily about her former flames. Fans think Jennifer Lopez shaded Drake at her concert in Los Angeles on Friday, June 7. The concert was the first of her new It’s My Party tour, so if this is really Drake shade, then we’re confident in saying Lopez has started off her tour with a true bang.
So, what’s the evidence that’s shade, you ask? According to Us Weekly, Lopez ad-libbed during a dance break when a snippet of Drake’s song “Hotline Bling” came on. Drake singing the lyric “You used to call me on my cell phone” was played and Lopez apparently responded, “Huh. Booty call.”
This isn’t the first time Lopez has found opportunities to shade Drake during her concerts. In the immediate aftermath of their split in 2016, Lopez reportedly did the same bit — playing the aforementioned snippet of “Hotline Bling” and responding with “Booty call” — during her All I Have residency in Las Vegas.
Lopez and Drake’s 2016 romance was short-lived, but it was still definitely interesting to watch unfold. The couple was first spotted together at a Winter Wonderland prom-themed party in December 2016, sparking rumors these two were more than just friends. By February 2017, the two had called it quits and distanced themselves from each other immediately, implying things ended acrimoniously and they wanted nothing more to do with one another. Neither Lopez nor Drake have ever publicly confirmed their relationship or addressed why their split was so brutal. Instead, they’ve preferred shading one another in their music.
Drake hasn’t responded to Lopez’s in-concert shade, but we’ll be sure to send him some ice for Lopez’s burns.
