It’s been roughly two months since news broke that Lori Loughlin and husband Mossimo Giannulli were involved in the college admissions scandal that shocked, well, everyone. And while it seemed their daughter Olivia Jade might be targeted by federal agents, the intel at this point remains that she was unwittingly involved and therefore not culpable. So, she’s doing what most teenagers would do when they’re mad at their parents — Olivia Jade is pushing back against Loughlin and Giannulli, making as much clear with a series of pointed decisions and microaggressions.
To recap, Loughlin and Giannulli allegedly paid $500,000 in bribes to make it appear as though their daughters, Olivia Jade and Isabella, were recruited by the USC crew team (despite the fact the girls do not participate in crew). Their reported involvement in the scheme included having the girls pose for rowing photos that were submitted as part of a portfolio to help secure the young women a spot at the prestigious university. According to TMZ, Loughlin and Giannulli may face a minimum of two years in jail if they fail to strike a plea deal with prosecutors.
Although little has been leaked about Isabella in the way of her reaction, much has been made of Olivia Jade — who, at the time of the scandal, was a successful social media influencer. And, suffice it to say, Olivia Jade appears to be turning her back on her famous parents. Here’s how.
She wants to rehabilitate her social influencer empire.

Olivia Jade lost lucrative promotional partnerships with companies like Sephora and Princess Polly in the wake of the scandal, not to mention enduring feedback from a seriously incensed public. So, her social media empire came toppling down. But now, according to E! News, she is starting to focus on her future. “Olivia Jade is furious with her parents and it’s going to take a lot to repair their relationship. She blames them entirely and feels they have ruined her career,” a source told E!, adding, “She wants to focus on rebuilding her business and not deal with daily negative attention.”
She moved out of her parents’ home.
Olivia Jade wasted little time adding physical distance between her and her parents. Per Elle, she found a new residence in early May. “Olivia’s clothes and some personal items were moved out from her parents Bel Air house this week. She wants more privacy. Everything that’s going on with her parents is very stressful for her and she needs some space. She doesn’t feel that it’s healthy for her to live with her parents right now,” a source reportedly said.
She’s shopping for her new life.

While her parents face serious jail-time, Olivia Jade seems to be sending them a message — she is unbothered by their legal woes. On May 5, she was spotted shopping at IKEA (presumably for her new digs). She attempted to go incognito in a pink baseball cap and oversized sunglasses, but paparazzi clearly saw through her cover.

Again, Olivia Jade isn’t letting a little thing like her parents possibly going to jail stop her from doing 19-year-old things. On May 15, she was photographed leaving the West Hollywood club Bootsy Bellows at 2 a.m. after a night of partying with her friends. “Olivia is doing well,” a source told People. “What’s going on with her parents is still upsetting to her, but she is also trying to focus on her own life as well.”
She’s trying to get back into USC.
Multiple sources have reportedly told Us Weekly that Olivia Jade is trying her hardest to get back into USC, on her own this time. “Olivia Jade wants to go back to USC,” one source said of the university where her status is currently under review. “She didn’t get officially kicked out and she is begging the school to let her back in.” Unfortunately, another source claims it’s more of a publicity stunt than anything else. “She knows they won’t let her in, so she’s hoping this info gets out,” said the second source. “She wants to come out looking like she’s changed, learned life lessons and is growing as a person, so she for sure wants people to think she is interested in education.”
