Britney Spears Promises Fans ‘All Is Well’ Amid Mental Health Speculation

On late Tuesday, Britney Spears addressed fans directly on Instagram to shut down rumors surrounding her mental health and to assure everyone that she’s doing just fine. In addition to a lengthy statement written by the singer, Spears said in a video shared on her Instagram, “Hi, guys, just checking in with all of you who are concerned about me. All is well. My family has been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately, so I just needed time to deal. But, don’t worry, I’ll be back very soon.”

Her message for fans didn’t stop there and the singer wants everyone to know that not only does she need privacy right now, but that they shouldn’t believe everything they read. She wrote, “I wanted to say hi, because things that are being said have just gotten out of control!!! Wow!!! There’s rumors, death threats to my family and my team, and just so many things crazy things being said. I am trying to take a moment for myself, but everything that’s happening is just making it harder for me. Don’t believe everything you read and hear.”

She then went onto address “fake emails” that are circulating that she claims were “crafted by Sam Lutfi years ago” and that she “did not write them.” Lutfi is her former manager. “He was pretending to be me and communicating with my team with a fake email address,” Spears claimed about Lutfi. According to Cosmopolitan, Lutfi has been supporting the #FreeBritney movement.

I wanted to say hi, because things that are being said have just gotten out of control!!! Wow!!! There’s rumors, death threats to my family and my team, and just so many things crazy things being said. I am trying to take a moment for myself, but everything that’s happening is just making it harder for me. Don’t believe everything you read and hear. These fake emails everywhere were crafted by Sam Lutfi years ago… I did not write them. He was pretending to be me and communicating with my team with a fake email address. My situation is unique, but I promise I’m doing what’s best at this moment 🌸🌸🌸 You may not know this about me, but I am strong, and stand up for what I want! Your love and dedication is amazing, but what I need right now is a little bit of privacy to deal with all the hard things that life is throwing my way. If you could do that, I would be forever grateful. Love you ❤️❤️❤️

On April 23, Lutfi released a statement on Twitter denying Spears’ claims. He captioned his tweet, “Nice try Lou but this isn’t going to work this time around,” referring to Spears’ business manager, Lou Taylor.

As for Lutfi’s statement, it reads: “Britney’s Instagram post has accused me of fabricating emails of hers that have been circulating recently. I can unequivocally state that I never wrote nor had access to her email. Her team’s desperate attempt to deflect negative attention onto me (yet again) is a rather ineffective way to overshadow the FreeBritney movement. In addition to making certain people in her camp look bad, the emails in question show a woman capable of running her own life, a narrative they apparently want to hide.”

For those unaware, E! News reported that the #FreeBritney movement was created by fans after she checked into a wellness facility in early April that was reportedly due to the stress the singer felt after her father, Jamie Spears, faced health issues. However, some fans apparently didn’t believe that reasoning and the movement formed after claims surfaced that Britney was forced into a wellness facility and was being held against her own free will, as reported in an episode of the Britney’s Glam podcast.

All that said, Spears concluded her post by assuring everyone she’s doing well, but that she also needs to focus on her wellbeing. “My situation is unique, but I promise I’m doing what’s best at this moment,” she wrote. “You may not know this about me, but I am strong, and stand up for what I want! Your love and dedication is amazing, but what I need right now is a little bit of privacy to deal with all the hard things that life is throwing my way. If you could do that, I would be forever grateful. Love you.”

It seems that Spears is trying to do what’s best for herself right now and simply wants privacy at this time without any extra pressure or headlines impacting her health.
