Reese Witherspoon & Jennifer Garner Have the Best Response to ‘Baby Bombshells’ Rumor

To quote Joe Cocker, we get by with a little help from our friends. Case in point? Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Garner are tackling pregnancy rumors together. OK Magazine stoked speculation recently when it ran a cover spread with the headline, “Jen & Reese Baby Bombshells!” The subhead beneath claimed, “Shock and Joy for Hollywood BFFs.” Instead of getting bent out of shape, though, the women — along with a few of their high-profile pals — decided to have a little fun with it.

Witherspoon took to Instagram with an image of the cover, tagging Garner and joking, “Hey Jen! Can we raise our imaginary babies together?” Always a good sport, Garner played right along, writing, “We are going to be the cutest imaginary family!! I’ll just go ahead and move in now.” The BFFs weren’t the only ones to go all-in on the joke. Sarah Michelle Gellar chimed in, saying, “Only if I get to imaginary babysit,” prompting Witherspoon to ask, “Will you be the imaginary godmother?” Ali Wentworth offered to throw an imaginary shower, which Molly Sims requested an invite for. Elle MacPherson moved in on Gellar’s imaginary title, asking to be godmother. And Oprah Magazine gushed, “We can babysit your imaginary babies!” For her part, Gwyneth Paltrow apparently found it wildly amusing, posting three laugh-crying emoji.

Fans got in on the fun, too. “@reesewitherspoon & @jennifer.garner Have either of you asked @okmagazine how far along you are? You wouldn’t want to be surprised, say next week, with a new babes,” one fan playfully prodded. Another wrote, “Imaginary babies are the best. So quiet and easy to take care of.” (Witherspoon agreed imaginary babies are “perfect.”) When a fan exclaimed, “Omg! Congratulations on your fake baby,” Witherspoon cheekily replied, “Thank you! I’m almost happy about it.” Clearly, in the case of the tabloid pregnancy rumors, Witherspoon and Garner are getting the last laugh.

As fans of the women know, each has three non-imaginary children. Witherspoon shares daughter Ava Phillippe, 19, and son Deacon Phillippe, 14, with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe. She and husband Jim Toth have a son, six-year-old Tennessee James Toth. As for Garner, she and ex-husband Ben Affleck share daughters Violet Affleck, 13, Seraphina Affleck, 10, and son Samuel Garner Affleck, 7.

Garner is reportedly happily dating Cali Group CEO John Miller, but the only thing the relationship is pregnant with so far is potential.
