Orlando Bloom’s Proposal to Katy Perry Involved a Helicopter, & It Sounds Epic

You can add this to the list of romantic celebrity proposals. During Monday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Katy Perry opened up about Orlando Bloom’s proposal that happened on Valentine’s Day. Based on the many details Perry gave host Jimmy Kimmel, it’s safe to say Bloom did a very good job when popping the question to the love of his life, or as Perry called the two, “adventure buddies.”

“We went to dinner, and I thought we were going to go see some art after dinner, but instead, we pulled up to a helicopter,” Perry revealed. In the words of Kimmel, “Very Bachelor.”

Perry replied with a laugh, “I’m glad I don’t have to go on that show now.”

“It was really sweet. He asked me to marry him in a helicopter,” she added. That said, the proposal didn’t go exactly as Bloom had planned. According to Perry, not only did Bloom write down everything he wanted to say in a note, which he handed to his now-fiancée to read. Perry explained the note was supposed to serve as a diversion while Bloom pulled the ring out of his pocket.

However, the box was too big for Bloom’s jacket pocket, and as he tried to get the box out, he not only ripped his pocket, but he even accidentally smashed a Champagne bottle. All that said, Perry described the proposal as “really sweet,” especially when the helicopter landed on a rooftop and Perry discovered Bloom had invited her family and friends to celebrate with them.

“He did so well,” she said. We have to agree. Bloom, you are truly a romantic.

On Feb. 15, both Perry and Bloom announced their engagement on Instagram with a photo showing off her ring.

Speaking of her engagement ring, Perry told Kimmel she assisted Bloom in a sense. “I voiced my opinions,” she noted.

These two have been involved off and on since having an unforgettable meeting at the 2016 Golden Globes. Like Perry dished to Kimmel, their romance all started thanks to In-N-Out. “We bonded over an In-N-Out burger about three years ago at the Golden Globes,” Perry explained. “He stole one off of my table… he took it and I was like, ‘Wait! Who — oh, wow, you’re so hot. Fine, take it.'”

From that moment on, they’ve been a huge part of each other’s lives. As for their engagement, it seems like the proposal turned out to be a memorable one, even if pockets were ripped and Champagne bottles were smashed in the process.
