During Sunday’s Golden Globes, a lot of exciting moments went down in addition to many surprise wins (hello, Glenn Close). If for some reason you didn’t tune in or have yet to watch (that’s what DVRs are for, right?) allow us to recap by sharing some behind-the-scene moments you may have missed at the 2019 Golden Globes.
The evening started out pretty well, with hosts Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg pretty much killing it with their monologue and producing genuine laughs both in the audience and at home. Oh, who also took home the Golden Globe for best actress in a television drama series for her role in Killing Eve, shined an important light on the changes in Hollywood when it comes to diversity.
As Oh stated, “I said yes to the fear of being on this stage tonight because I wanted to be here to look out into this audience and witness this moment of change.” She continued, “I’m not fooling myself; next year could be different. It probably will be. But right now, this moment is real. Trust me; it is real. Because I see you. And I see you. All of these faces of change. And now, so will everyone else.”
It was an empowering and emotional moment that those watching the award show live experienced together, and there were many other memories being created behind the scenes — below are just a few.
Kristen Bell & Dax Shepard
One of the best celebrity couples around. Oh, and if you haven’t seen Bell’s Golden Globes prep, you must check it out immediately.
She and her husband, Dave Bugliari, looked stunning.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star and her “girl gang.” FYI, Brosnahan once again took home an award for her amazing acting in the Amazon series.
Cuoco and her husband, Karl Cook, make one beautiful duo.
The Westworld star and her husband, Ol Parker, taking a mandatory limo selfie.
And here is what appears to be the first picture of Chastain’s baby, whom she and Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo reportedly welcomed in 2018 via surrogate.
Emily Blunt & Megan Mullally

another amazing thing happened tonight, which is that i got to chat with emily blunt, star of my (and nick’s) fave-rave @marypoppinsreturns ✨ she is incredibly cool, funny, friendly, and warm a), and b) she is off-the-cha-zizzle talented. she also introduced me to dick van dyke. these are the greatest things that could have possibly happened to me 🧚🏼♀️🧚🏼♀️🧚🏼♀️🧚🏼♀️ i hope #marypoppinsreturns wins some awards, not only because it deserves to, but because it has magic in it. rob marshall is a genius and has directed a gorgeous, classic movie. #emilyblunt #dickvandyke #robmarshall ps if you ever saw the original revival of Cabaret on #broadway (dir. by r. marshall), you would be worshipping at the same altar as i do 🏆🏆🏆🏆 @goldenglobes #goldenglobes (and, as if that wasn’t enough, i got to spend some time with carol burnett 🥳🤩😍😂🥰 a perfect night. what a life 🍀)
These two are everything. Also, if you love Mary Poppins Returns, you’re going to want to read Megan Mullally’s caption, stat.
Sterling K. Brown & Ryan Michelle Bathe
This Is Us actor Brown secretly filmed Bathe singing Maroon 5 in the car on the way to the red carpet — and she wasn’t exactly thrilled.
Here is Ricky Martin getting ready with help from his new baby girl, Lucia.
Connie Britton & Amy Sherman-Palladino
Now, here are two powerful women in Hollywood who probably need to work together as soon as possible.
The American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace star, who won for best actor in a limited series TV or movie, posed for a sweet photo with Mia Swier, his fiancée.
William Jackson Harper
This one is for Good Place fans. Chidi has never looked better.
Taraji P. Henson & Regina King
The perfect photo celebrating Regina King’s win for her supporting role in If Beale Street Could Talk — and with King’s proud son, Ian Alexander Jr., in tow.
These are just a few of the many behind-the-scenes moments from the 76th Golden Globes. It sure looks like many of the stars who were in attendance had a fabulous time.
