Kelly Clarkson Has an Upcoming TV Performance You’re Going to Want to Watch

2018 has been a busy year for Kelly Clarkson. She was the winning judge of The Voice season 14…

She hosted the 2018 Billboard Music Awards…

She performed at Macy's Fourth of July fireworks show…

And at the Warrior Games, a multisport event that honors wounded and ill military service personnel and veterans…

And now, she's getting ready to headline another big event — the opening ceremony night of the U.S. Open on Monday, Aug. 27.

“We are honored to have such a talented performer join us in this very special year,” said USTA Chairman of the Board and President Katrina Adams. “Kelly Clarkson’s musical versatility, her unparalleled presence and, of course, her voice will make this a night to remember.”

And it should be a night to remember, as the U.S. Open is celebrating it's 50th anniversary. Clarkson's performance will serve as the centerpiece of the celebration and will feature former U.S. Open champs and other special guests. The night will end with a special rendition of the national anthem by a performer who has yet to be announced.

Clarkson's already ticked off a bevy of milestones and achievements in her career so far, but this will be just another to add to the list. Other performers who've led the opening night ceremony in U.S. Open history include Shania Twain, Phil Collins, Lenny Kravitz, Whitney Houston, Jordin Sparks and Josh Groban.

Later this year, Clarkson will reclaim her seat on The Voice season 15, but until then, we're getting excited for her big U.S. Open debut. Girl's got pipes, and we've been waiting for a moment like this (get the lyrical pun we just threw in there?).

The U.S. Open will be televised Aug. 27 through Sept. 9 on ESPN.
