Danica Patrick Gives an Update on Her Relationship With Aaron Rodgers
Danica Patrick has attended the Espy's for the past 13 years — that's quite a long time, folks. So this year, to mark her 14th consecutive year of attendance, she's taking on a much bigger role and hosting the darn show, scheduled to take place tomorrow.
As if standing in the spotlight all night long won't make it memorable enough, there's one other factor making Patrick even more exited — her current boyfriend of seven months, Aaron Rodgers, will be in the audience cheering her on.
“I saw his [seat] card so… let's hope he shows,” Patrick joked during an interview with Extra.
While Patrick may have nerves about hosting sports' biggest night (she's been memorizing her lines and rehearsing all week!), it's not Rodger's attendance that's making her uneasy.
"He's seen this go down so many times," she told Extra. "He doesn't want to watch anything before the show. Aaron wants to watch it cold… I feel like I'm gonna get a very authentic response. And it better be kind no matter what.”
Patrick is going to crush the hosting job — like pretty much everything else she does — so we have no doubts Rodgers will be showering her with compliments and bravas at the night's close. But since we likely won't get to see the couple walk the red carpet together or cuddling in their seats, how's the relationship going? Well, from the looks of things, really, really well.
Patrick and Rodgers recently took a vacation together to Lake Tahoe, Nevada, where they relaxed, watched golf, went paddleboarding and worked out because a) they're athletes and b) the couple that sweats together stays together.
“Sometimes we work together. But he does more sports-specific stuff… I'm like... any sport... We do work out sometimes. He's an ab machine.”
Ab machine, eh? That little comment caused us to do some Instagram stalking and discover that there are zero shirtless pictures available at this time. Hey, Ms. Patrick — we need photographic evidence or it never happened. Please and thank you.
The Espy Awards air tomorrow night on ABC. The presenters will include Hollywood stars and sports fans Kate Beckinsale, Alison Brie, Jennifer Garner, Allison Janney, Jon Stewart and Jessica Szohr. So with Patrick at the helm and Rodgers blowing kisses from his seat, it should be a poppin' night.
