Jennifer Aniston Is Making a Netflix Original Comedy & Seriously, We Can’t Wait

Netflix made a big announcement yesterday and we are here for it. They’re starting production on a new original comedy titled Murder Mystery, and even better – it’s going to bring Jennifer Aniston & Adam Sandler back together on the small screen.

While we first heard about the potential Netflix flick back in April, details were yet to be released. Now we have everything from the cast list to the film’s synopsis, and tbh, this is how we feel:
https://media.giphy.com/media/31lPv5L3aIvTi/giphy.gifIt couldn’t be a better time for Aniston to reunite with BFF Sandler, either. After a rough start to 2018 — revealing her split from Justin Theroux after less than 3 years of marriage and inevitably dealing with a slew of Brad Pitt reunion rumors — working on a new project that’s all about the laughs is exactly where she needs to be.

So, without further ado, here’s everything we know about Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler’s Netflix comedy movie Murder Mystery, so far. Don’t worry, we’ll continue to update you.

The Cast

Starring alongside Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler is Hollywood stud and Welsh actor Luke Evans.

The ensemble also includes what Netflix refers to as “a cast of global talent” – Gemma Arterton (Their Finest, The Girl With All the Gifts), Luis Gerardo Medez (Club de Cuervos, Time Share), Shioli Kutsuna (Deadpool 2), David Williams (Little Britain), Adeel Akhtar (The Big Sick, Murdered By My Father), John Kani (Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther, The Lion King), and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (True Detective, The BFG).

The Premise

Murder Mystery is your typical “whodunit” film.

When a NYC cop (Adam Sandler) finally takes his wife (Jennifer Aniston) on a long promised European trip (hopefully they don’t play into archaic housewife stereotype), a chance meeting on the flight with a mysterious man (Luke Evans) gets them invited to an intimate family gathering on the Super Yacht of elderly billionaire Malcolm Quince. When Quince is murdered, they become the prime suspects.

It’s basically Did You Hear About the Morgans (Sarah Jessica Parker, Hugh Grant) but on a boat. A really big, dangerous boat.

Other Deets

Netflix plans to release the Happy Madison film on their streaming site worldwide in 2019.

It’s being directed by Kyle Newacheck – who was also responsible for bringing Workaholics to the small screen. It was written by James Vanderbilt – who worked with Netflix previously as a writer for Altered Carbon. It appears to be his first stab at a comedy, as his other titles include The Amazing Spiderman, White House Down, and Zodiac.

The movie began filming this week (so be on the lookout for behind-the-scene pictures!) in Montreal and will also film in locations across Europe.
