Well, the honeymoon is over. No, really — Prince Harry and his new bride, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex (née Meghan Markle), are clearly back from their honeymoon because Prince Harry was spotted in London on Thursday. And while he returned from the newlyweds’ top-secret post-nuptial trip with a smile, he was noticeably missing one thing: his wedding ring. Don’t freak out, though. We don’t think this is a sign of trouble in paradise.
The prince was photographed on a gym outing with a workout partner, hence the super-casual attire of a plain T-shirt and sweatpants. The sweat session would be reason enough for Prince Harry to take off his ring, but there are plenty of other plausible explanations for why he would be out and about without it.
Maybe he takes it off when he applies hair gel to his signature ginger coif. We all know that gel and rings are non-simpatico, right? Or perhaps he lost weight from all that honeymoon sex and had to send the ring out to be resized.
The point is that it’s totally normal to go sans ring sometimes. Any married person — whether they’ve been married a minute or more than a decade — will tell you the same. Most of us don’t have paparazzi trailing us with zoom lenses trained on our ring fingers, though.
While Prince Harry’s absentee ring kicked off what is likely the first of many rumors about the state of his union with Markle, the couple soon won’t have time to dwell on any silly drama. Markle’s official royal duties begin on June 14, when she is scheduled to make her first solo outing with Queen Elizabeth. Reportedly, the public duty will be the first of many where Prince Harry’s new bride will essentially shadow the reigning monarch.
“The Queen knows the potential pitfalls of not giving [new members] a guiding hand. It’s all about the monarchy. She can’t expect Meghan to know everything without being shown,” Ingrid Seward, royal family expert and biographer, told People in this week’s issue.
As for Prince Harry, his trip to the gym isn’t the only public appearance he has made since returning to London. Royals reporter Emily Andrews shared a snapshot of Harry at Kensington Palace, attending a dinner for the OnSide Youth Zones charity, on Thursday night.

For those dying for a sighting of Prince Harry and his bride together again (*raises hand*), Town & Country speculates that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be on hand at this weekend’s Trooping the Colour parade to help celebrate the queen’s 92nd birthday.
