Pauley Perrette Addresses All the Rumors About Her NCIS Exit
Pauley Perrette, who plays Abby, is setting the record straight about her exit from NCIS. After 15 years, Perrette deserves a clean break from the show that has nurtured her and given her a platform to connect with fans. But for now, Perrette needs to combat some rumors still lingering about her exit.
While speaking with TV Insider, Perrette went on the record to put a stop to any rumors that she was leaving the show because of bad blood with the show's execs or any other such nonsense. For Perrette, the time was just right.
"I believe in God and the universe so firmly," she explained, "and it just suddenly became blindingly apparent that now was the time [to leave]. After a lot of thought, I decided to announce it myself on Twitter because I didn’t want it to be turned into anything 'shocking.'"
Perrette made one final thing especially clear in her statement: "Abby leaving is more than a cheap TV ploy."
It would be difficult to imagine Abby being written off the show in a cruel or awful way, especially considering all the history Abby has on the show. But it's reassuring to hear that she is leaving the show on good terms.
Perrette announced that she was leaving in autumn 2017, and she's been fighting nasty rumors ever since. At the time, the announcement caught everyone off guard, leading many to speculate on the reason for her departure. She even had to tweet a statement in November 2017 denying she was leaving NCIS to start a skin care line.
Regardless of the terms she's leaving on, it's going to be tough to say goodbye to Abby and Perrette. Fifteen years is a long time; it's the end of an era, really. Let's keep our fingers crossed that when the time does come to officially say goodbye, it's more sweet than bitter.
